This is my reaction to reference by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the sacrifices of the Indian princes during merger with the Union of India in his speech while inaugurating the Statue of Unity on 31st October 2018, and my plans to promote heritage tourism in the Rajpipla region in Gujarat.
My grandfather Maharaja Shri Vijaysinhji of Rajpipla played a significant role in the merger of princely states. This is recounted in detail by Shri V.P. Menon, Secretary of States under Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, in his book ‘Integration of the Indian states’
